Empowering Communities. Changing Lives. TOGETHER.

Already a member of the Urban League of Hampton Roads?

The fight against policies of discrimination and economic and social injustices has long defined the history of African Americans and underserved urban communities.

For over a century, the National Urban League, founded in 1910, has been a powerful engine for progress and empowerment. Today, as one of 90 affiliates across the country, the Urban League collectively serves nearly two million individuals in 300 communities annually.

Despite this work, vast disparities remain in income, employment, education, quality housing, and basic healthcare, creating a persistent socioeconomic divide. We believe this divide can be overcome only by empowering our communities.

When you join the Urban League of Hampton Roads (ULHR), you align yourself with one of the nation’s oldest and most respected civil rights organizations. You become part of a movement that has been at the forefront of the fight for economic equity, social justice, and civil rights for the Black community and other underserved populations across decades.

Your membership translates into active, tangible change. It fuels our initiatives, from advocating for educational reform to ensuring better access to healthcare and economic opportunities, directly uplifting individuals and strengthening our communities. Historically, African Americans and underserved urban communities have fought to overcome policies of discrimination, economic and social injustices. Since 1910, the National Urban League has been a force for progress and empowerment. As one of 90 affiliates across the country, the Urban League collectively delivers services and programs to nearly two million individuals in 300 communities each year.

Although we have made progress, vast disparities remain around income, employment and education opportunities, quality housing, and basic healthcare. These disparities create a socioeconomic divide that we believe can change through empowering communities.
