August 2020 Chairman’s Message

Hello Urban League Family and Friends. Welcome to the month of August! On September 11, 2020 my wife Mary Bibbs and I will be stepping away from the Urban League of Hampton Roads. We want to thank everyone who has supported our efforts to revitalize the ULHR since October of 2019. Mary and I have poured our hearts and souls into serving the underserved in the Hampton Roads community.

We have thoroughly enjoyed serving you, our Urban League friends and supporters. Having the ability to assist people who have been negatively impacted by this pandemic has been so rewarding. Whether it was assisting with food, rent, employment opportunities or even facilitating testing for the community, we gave everything we could to assist those in need. We hope that the ULHR will continue these efforts in a very transparent way.

Our goal all along was to build a nonprofit that everyone in Hampton Roads could be proud of.

September 11 is a day we cannot forget, the towers in NYC coming- the attacks on American soil.

We look forward to seeing you around and we are praying that you remain safe during this pandemic. Please remember no one person is more important than the next. We are all God’s children and are all created equally.

Sincerely,

James Bibbs
